Xena A little history on this beautiful, spunky dog.... I was lucky enough to get Xena for a Christmas present, in December 1997. (That makes her all of 3 years old now!) We went to pick her up in January, just past her 9 week mark. I had picked out a name for her and was ready to bring my little "Lady" home. (I'm a huge Disney fan.) We show up, and the breeder takes us to the cage that holds our puppy and the rest of the litter (there was 9 in all, and ours was the only female). She sat primly at one end of the cage while her brothers snored and slept on the other side of the cage. As we watched, she revved up and got a running start...directly into her 8 brothers. Needless to say, they woke up. :) From that day on, we knew we had a puppy with spirit. She has spirit, but her spirit is a loving one. Never have I seen a dog who more loves attention, who more loves to shower attention on "her" humans. She actually mopes when her favorite people leave her. (I think she invented the expression 'puppy dog eyes'). But I can tell you, there is nothing like the feeling of coming home to find a wiggly, excited pretty little dog who lights up just because you enter the room. Xena waits at our upstairs window for a sign of my car. As soon as I get out of my car and look up, she's there, waiting for me. There's nothing like a cocker spaniel. They are pure love.
